Superintendents and education advocates are coming together with the Fix the Formula Illinois campaign for a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, June 29at New Zion Baptist Church to discuss the current school funding crisis and how it is devastating schools around the state, including Rockford Public Schools. The Town Hall meeting will also be discussing the proposed solution: Senate Bill 1. The bill is an evidence-based school funding model sponsored by Sen. Andy Manar and Rep. William Davis and made a historic pass through the House and Senate on May 31. It will soon be released for the Governor to sign. The Town Hall will share facts about the bill and how it provides Rockford Public Schools with the adequate, equitable, and sustainable funding they need for their students to experience a quality education—something superintendent say, hasn't happened for over two decades. This Town Hall event is one of several that will take place in the coming month across the state.
