EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – State Rep. LaToya Greenwood, D-East St. Louis, is partnering with Millstadt Township to host a free community shred day and food drive on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Millstadt Township Road District, located at 18 E Harrison in Millstadt.
“This community shred day is a great opportunity for area residents to safely and securely dispose of private documents that contain sensitive information,” said Greenwood. “With identity theft on the rise, it is important that residents take necessary steps to keep their personal information from falling into the wrong hands.”
Greenwood’s shred day event will offer local families the opportunity to shred old or unused paperwork for free. Residents are welcome to bring documents that contain personally identifiable information to be safely shredded, such as bank statements, outdated medical records, old tax returns, and other sensitive documents. Residents are also encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items for the local food drive as well.
“I am excited to partner with Millstadt Township to host a free shred day and I encourage all residents to attend,” said Greenwood. “I look forward to meeting members of the local community and providing this important service.”
